Over the past month, the MLB has been surrounded by questions and concerns about one significant issue. Victus Bats, one of the most famous bat companies in the world, created a bat so epic that an MLB team, the New York Yankees, has been doing extraordinary with them. They’re called the Torpedo Bats, and many are shocked that this bat is legal due to its enormous barrel. This is a big deal because the barrel of the bat is where most hard contact comes from, and having that difference-maker enhanced is a game changer. Many think that the Yankees are cheating by using this bat; while it’s a controversial topic, it all comes down to what the MLB believes should happen to them.
Several teams have been talking to Victus, trying to purchase many Torpedo Bats for their team. This may be one of baseball’s biggest trends. Many teams have tried to use the bat in the past but haven’t come up successfully – teams like the Chicago Cubs and the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Yankees, using the Torpedo Bat, broke the MLB record for most home runs in the first four opening games. They hit eighteen home runs in the first four games, breaking the record. All of this success and points make some wonder if this gives them an advantage and if they are going to stay for long.
The MLB is very strict on types of equipment, accessories, enhancements, etc. If found that you have something illegal, you will be immediately ejected from the game and fined with possible suspension.
Fans are curious if the MLB will allow these. There has not been a full investigation quite yet. But currently, one of the players that use the torpedo bat is tied for the most home runs in the league today, that player is Yankees, Jazz Chisolm Jr.
Many people are positive about this new and exciting change.
“The newly introduced Torpedo Bats are a great new type of bat that the New York Yankees have started using along with other players in the league. I think that they are completely fair and I like the new concept of bats,” BAHS varsity baseball player, senior Peyton Vancas said.
