Senior Benjamin “Ben” Edwards is nothing short of kind, chill, and a good person overall. With a diverse skill set, from the football field to the field of psychology, he excels in his activities with a blend of talent and determination.
Ben participates in dual enrollment where he takes the class Psychology 1000. Outside of school he plays football and lacrosse, and enjoys fishing.
Teachers and classmates both recognize his efforts and warm demeanor. His positivity is not just a front; it seeps into his interactions, leaving a lasting impression.
“Ben is a kind and empathetic person. These are traits that will carry him far. His consistent positive interactions with his peers have shaped my image of him,” government teacher Mr. Edward Fitzgerald said.
As Ben approaches the end of his high school career, he is filled with excitement to move forward to the next chapter of life. He will soon travel on a mission trip with his church to Salvador, Brazil where he will leave this upcoming fall and enjoy his stay for two years.
“I’m going to be doing service, baptizing people, and spreading the gospel. I don’t get paid for any of it,” Ben said.
Upon his return from Brazil, Ben plans to further his education in college. While he is still exploring his options for enrollment, he knows that his passion for nature is driving him to pursue forestry.
“I just like being outdoors. I think it’s pretty fun,” he said.
While moving on, he reflects on his high school experience, reminiscing about freshman gym class with former physical education teacher Mr. Don Amoriello, and classmate senior Tanner Ebeling. Where the atmosphere was laid back, he got to see his friends, and play some fun games.
If he was able to talk to his freshman self he would tell him to take some AP classes and try harder. Ben’s advice for any upcoming freshman would be, “Don’t juul, it’s not ‘cuul’”
Ben Edwards is not only a bright student and athlete but also a compassionate individual ready to make a difference in the world. The students of Bellefonte High bid farewell to him as he graduates from the memories that will stick with him forever, and his upcoming mission trip.
