Bellefonte Area School District announced a $5,092.71 donation from GIANT Company’s Feeding School Kids initiative to help expand school food programs. Since the new year, Giant, Martin’s, and Giant Heirloom Market stores were invited to offer customers to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar to support their local public school districts’ food programs. In total, more than $7.6 million was raised around the country.
Mrs. Laura Frye is Bellefonte High School’s Food Services Director. She has been an employee for BASD for ten years, and has become a beloved member of the school community. Mrs. Frye is very grateful for the donations from our community and is excited to see how this will support those who are facing food insecurity.
“It is incredibly important to us as a school district that the generosity of the community made this donation possible,” Mrs. Frye said.
The money BASD received from The GIANT Feeding School Kids allows students to give a helping hand who face food insecurity at home. It is important for students to be well-fed in and out of school, and now BASD is able to provide.
