One of Bellefonte High’s most beloved teachers, English teacher and Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) advisor Mrs. Molly Molnar, is known for always spreading joy and kindness, whether it’s being a leader in the classroom, or a role model of a mother Mrs. Molnar has been a student favorite for many years, and rightfully so. The energy that she brings to the classroom is unlike any other. She is always in a good mood, and it reflects on others as well.
To her, the students of Bellefonte are one of the best features of the communities. She reflects on all the students she’s had, and currently has.
“They are all super awesome, and it is such an honor being a teacher to such a great group of kids. I have nothing but good things to say about all the cohorts I’ve taught at Bellefonte over the years,” Mrs. Molnar said.
Mrs. Molnar also appreciates her community around her, and takes a liking to the small town.
“Bellefonte is a unique community. It has beautiful historic buildings and outdoor spaces that the community prioritizes,” Mrs. Monar said, “Bellefonte tends to get overshadowed by State College, but I think this helps Bellefonte be the best-kept secret in central PA. It’s a lovely community that doesn’t have to brag about its great qualities, it lets them speak for themselves.¨
Being able to have such a big impact and influence on students takes lots of work, time, and true care for what you do. Mrs. Molnar is nothing short of that to say the least. She has this certain vibe that when kids walk into her room they automatically feel at home.
¨I hope that students leave my class with the confidence to communicate through speaking and writing. Reading and writing are life skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. The better a person can communicate, the more fulfilling a life they can live. I hope to empower my students with the gift of words to express themselves and pursue their dreams. That, and the difference between there, their, and they’re.
Having such a great way of teaching is something that many teachers all over the world thrive on but not Mrs. Molnar. She just wants to do her best and have it show.
¨I’m not a very competitive person, so I guess I’ve never considered what kind of individual accolades or accomplishments I’ve made in my career. I’ve always been more concerned with building relationships with others and being a good community member,” Mrs. Molnar said, “I guess I am most proud of some of the work I’ve done with producing Ananda (Bellefonte High School’s literary and art magazine) and GSA. Giving students a voice through written expression and activism has been one of my greatest joys as a teacher. It is amazing to see a student’s confidence grow when they are in an encouraging environment; that’s the best part of my job and what I am most proud of.¨
There is a reason that you hear about Mrs. Molnar’s classes all around Bellefonte High. She has earned her respect and every ¨thank you¨ and praise imaginable. She has been going strong for so many years and there is no end of the road in sight.
