The NFL regular season started last week and there is a lot to unpack. Whether it is new Colts quarterback, Daniel Jones having a successful debut with a 33-8 win against the Miami Dolphins, or Aaron Rodgers showing everyone he still has it.
The Kansas City Chiefs have won three of the past six Super Bowls. They were expected to do very well this season and be a possible Super Bowl contender, but as of week one they lost to the Los Angeles Chargers led by all pro quarterback Justin Herbert. The Chargers were eliminated by the Houston Texans in the Wildcard round of the playoffs last year and as you know the Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl, so it was a very large upset.
Josh Allen had an amazing performance last Sunday, following him being the MVP last season, he is projected to lead the Buffalo Bills to the Super Bowl this year. He proved everyone right when he carried his team to victory against the Baltimore Ravens. In the first quarter the Bills were in the lead by four points after Dalton Kincaid caught a 15 yard touchdown pass from Allen. By the end of the half, the Ravens had taken a lead of 20-13. At the end of the third quarter the score was 34-19 and it looked like the Ravens would win, even Buffalo Bills fans were leaving the stadium so they did not have to watch their favorite team lose. In the 4th quarter Josh Allen carried the Bills to score three touchdowns and get in field goal range, for Matt Prater to kick a 32 yard field goal to win the game 40-41.
There are a lot of predictions by a lot of people. These predictions are things like who will be in the Super Bowl or who will be the worst performing team this year.
“Right now, I think it will be the Chiefs and Giants,” said Quinn Park when predicting the teams that will be in the Superbowl this year.
He also said, “I think the worst team this year will be the Cowboys.” Which is not a bad prediction going off of the fact that last year they had a 7-10 season. Also the Cowboys have recently made a controversial trade. Their star defensive end, Micah Parsons, was sent to the Green Bay Packers for Kenny Clark and two future first round draft picks.
Alten Howell said when predicting, “Travis Hunter will get rookie of the year.”
This could possibly be the turnout of this year’s recipient, based on the fact that he was the 2024 Heisman trophy winner. But on the other hand he hasn’t been impressing many people in the NFL. He averages 6.1 yards per carry and has scored no touchdowns.
Overall, Bellefonte as well as the rest of the country shares mixed feelings about the season.
