Bellefonte High will join in the fun to prepare for Halloween as well as raise funds to battle childhood cancer with a Trunk-or-Treat happening in the BAHS student parking lot. This event, targeting elementary school students, is new to BAHS. Though, elementary schools like Benner Elementary have held this event for many years.
“Mini Thon is For The Kids (FTK) who have cancer, and it’s our way of contributing to the cause. We have always talked about different ways we can directly connect our community to the cause and how to get everyone involved in a fun way. Our goal is to create and come up with new and exciting events every year to continue the excitement around our program.” Junior Ryleigh Parette said.
One thing Ryleigh is most excited for, with this event, is seeing the joy it will bring to our community and the young kids participating in it.
The fundraiser will impact families all over the world. The money that is raised will be given directly to the Four Diamonds fund, then be distributed to families in need.
“I think the biggest struggle we have come across is the idea of how we keep the identity of Trunk or Treat classic, but still put our own spin on it. Mini-Thon allows us to be super creative with the different events we host, and that allows us to push the stereotypes on some of these events. Additionally, how do we keep this event as smooth-running and efficient as possible while creating those little moments?” Ryleigh said.
