Fall is here and that means cheerleading has officially begun. The team has done a lot of traveling this year due to the new stadium being built, but that hasn’t stopped them from cheering on the football team. Although there are “home” games at other

fields, for example, Lock Haven University and Bald Eagle, some cheerleaders are still disappointed.

“I’m kind of upset because home games are the best,” senior Kolya Way said.

Many students look forward to home games because of Raider Nation, which is a student section in the stands where everyone goes to cheer on the football team.

“I’m kind of sad not to have any true home games because there isn’t as much of a crowd and Raider Nation is pretty small, but I’m actually really surprised with how many fans have made the trips out to the away games,” junior Mackenzie Ebeling said.

Although there is some disappointment, the cheerleaders are still optimistic since they will have a new field to cheer at next year.

“But I’m super lucky that the field will be new for my senior year and I’m really excited about that,” Mackenzie said.

Aside from football, the team will be cheering on the basketball, wrestling, and volleyball teams. There is a lot to look forward to throughout the season.

“I’m looking forward to seeing all the new faces in the freshmen class and getting to cheer on our school,” Mackenzie said.

As for the seniors, many responsibilities come along with being the oldest on the team.

“It is a lot of responsibilities because everything depends on your acts. This year I am going to get my grades up and not fail any classes so I can go to every football game and enjoy my senior year,” Kolya said.

The team captains this season are seniors Savannah Mondy and Kailee Replogle. There are new freshmen on the team and this means that they are also meeting new people. They have a lot to look forward to now that they are no longer on the junior high team.

“I want to support the team and have fun at all of the games,” freshman Sophie Reiter said.

Coach Skip Headings has some great goals set for the team to have a successful season of cheerleading.

“Our goals this year as a team are to work hard and promote a positive attitude on and off the field,” he said.

The team also hopes to make a bigger impact on the community.

“One of our team goals is to do more things for the community and for the school, so I am excited to get things started. We have a clothing drive planned and some other good ideas,” Coach Headings said.

The team is very close this year and they have more skills this season with more tumbling and difficult stunting.

The cheerleading team is off to a great start and it appears that they will have an exciting season.
