The volleyball team celebrates a point

The volleyball team is volleying their way through the season with a record of 2-12 as of press time.

“The record does not include the hard work and improvements each and every player has made throughout the season,” Coach Terri Kerr said.

Coach Kerr is looking forward to teaching the players everything about volleyball since the team is very young this season.

“I am looking forward to teaching the fundamentals, the strategies, the rules, and having fun doing it while getting to know the players. Our only weakness, and it is not necessarily a weakness, but more of a lack of experience due to being such a young team,” she said.

However, the team is young which leaves more room for learning new things and constantly becoming better at the sport.

“At the beginning, more than half of the girls had little to no experience with the game. They have really done a great job of learning the skills and rules of the game,” Coach Kerr said.

The girls have many individual and team goals set for the season and they are on their way to accomplishing them one game at a time. Along with working on volleyball skills, they are also working on becoming closer as a team.

“We want to continue to develop skills in both passing and communication. We also want to strengthen our team chemistry,” junior Chelsea Robson said.

Although they have some great goals, the team already has many strengths and have already enhanced some skills. They are continuing to get better as the season continues.

“We have been seeing improvement between sets and enjoying the game. As well as the friendships,” Chelsea said.

Many freshmen have joined the team this year, including Tayla Miller. But, she is not new to the court. She played prior to this year on travel teams. Her main goal is to help the team keep a positive mindset.

“We are starting to become more comfortable with each other and how we play,” Tayla said.

The girls are looking forward to making new friends and playing a sport they all love together. They all have a very positive mindset on and off the courts which has helped them a lot.

“I’m looking forward to working and playing with girls I have never played with before and so far it has been amazing,” sophomore Makenna Port said.
