The 2025 Grammy Award Show, hosted by Trevor Noah on February 2, caused quite the conundrum. The internet was immediately sent into a craze, raving about who deserved the awards more, and saying that the Grammys were unlawful. Beginning with the “Country Album of the Year” award.
Beyoncé’s debut country album, Cowboy Carter received the Grammy for “Country Album of the Year,” not too long after she received another Grammy title for “Album of the Year.”
The internet immediately started with conspiracy theories. User TaraBull on X, formerly known as Twitter, posted a photo of Beyonce’s reaction with the caption, “even she knows it’s rigged.”
According to an article from Daily Mail, a different X user posted: “Tell me the Grammys are rigged without telling me they are rigged. Post Malone is more country than Beyoncé! Lainey Wilson should have won that.”
Others bring up how Taylor Swift, who was nominated for eight awards, didn’t win a single one, while being one of the most acclaimed songwriters.
Individuals strengthened their argument by pointing out that Swift has over 96 billion streams on Spotify while Beyonce has 29 billion.
When it comes to who the internet thinks should’ve won, it’s pretty unanimous that everyone wanted Billie Eilish’s third studio album, BLUE to win. Many claim she was “robbed” of a Grammy, and pointed out the tears building up in her eyes while Beyoncé accepted her “Album of the Year” award.
Regardless of what the internet conspiracies about, Billie showed her support on the internet congratulating Beyoncé referring to her as “Queen Bee.” In return, Beyoncé showed her support for Billie and said kind words in a post as well.
On the other side of the situation, the black community is celebrating the first black woman to win in the category of “Country Album of the Year.”
Whether you believe the theories, or take the Grammys with a grain of salt, there is no changing who has already received the award. Might as well take a deep breath and move on.
