Not much in Bellefonte is like going to a Bellefonte High football game. The atmosphere is ecstatic and the student section is always packed. Many students come to games to support the Red Raiders. The Touchdown Club is always making sure that everyone is content and ready to watch the game.
“It’s a great resource for the team because it forms a bridge between parents and students with an age appropriate image on things so everyone can express their feelings,” sophomore Lettie Lucas said.
The Touchdown Club is an organization that is run by volunteers that coordinate fundraisers such as the “lift-a-thon,” where players get sponsors and you lift for them to donate money to the football team towards the college football games the team goes to. Raider cards are another item players sell for others to have a chance to win money, and more.
The Club helps the football team with food from their sponsor, Robin Hood Brewing Company. They provide meals for the team before every game home or away. The team dinners help bring the players and coaches closer together, helping build bonds and brotherhood between the players that will never be broken. The Club also provides transportation for the team including charter buses for comfy seating for the players for their long rides away.
They help sell clothing attire and team gear for funding for the football team. They also help provide meals for away games with bagged lunches which include; apples, chips, Gatorade, water, and a sub of the sorts.
“It’s great to help…fund for charter buses, food, events, banquets, and merchandise,” Lettie said
Overall, the club helps to provide safety and security for the football team while making sure they have fun due to proper funding. The team is unanimous in their thankfulness for the club and the hard workers behind it.
