As a newcomer to lacrosse, Ashten has already stolen the spotlight. He earned the Player of the game against North Pocono. During this game he showed hustle and strong effort. Ashten plays football and lacrosse at BAHS.
Ashten started playing lacrosse because of head coach, Mr. Aumiller. He persuaded Ashten to try it and he never looked back. Ashten said he will likely play lacrosse next year as well.
“As a lacrosse player, he’s gotten to the point where we can start moving him from defense to an offensive contributor to really help us next year after we graduate four seniors who start on the offensive side of the ball. He’s really developed his right hand and came a long way understanding the X and O’s of the sport.” Mr. Aumiller stated.
Not only is Ashten great at lacrosse, but he is also a star on the football field. During the 25-26 football season he rushed for 403 yards with seven touchdowns. He also had 284 receiving yards and two touchdowns. This determination and skill helped contribute to the 17-6 district championship win, against Juniata.
He was appointed team captain by coaches and teammates. Last season he led the team in receiving yards per game and total touchdowns. On top of that, he earned the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference (LHAC) second team wide receiver and an honorable mention for defensive athlete. Ashten is truly a great athlete and his performance on the field reflects exactly that.
“Ashten has made a huge impact on the lacrosse team. He’s been working really hard to learn the defense and offense at the same time. He came in and was immediately a contender for our defensive midfield position and has been the number two or number one guy the entire season to this point.” Said Mr. Aumiller.
Ashten looks up to teacher, Mrs. Cipro. She teaches video production and digital graphics and photoshop.
Ashten is a great athlete and everyone is anticipating big things for him in the future.
