The 2026 NBA finals are finally upon us, and the world is buzzing with excitement. There have been so many questions regarding the postseason as a whole. Questions like is Lebron James going to call it a career after it’s all said and done, or will Shai Gilgeous-Alexander win back to back MVP awards?
Every year there is bracket play to determine each year’s NBA champion. It’s a 16 team bracket including teams from the eastern conference and the western conference. Last year’s champion, Oklahoma City Thunder are looking to go back to back, and the last time a team did this was in 2012 and 2013 with the Miami Heat.
Many teams have made their case to be champions this year throughout the regular season. Players have shined, and coaches have outworked, but in the end it all comes down to who the best of the best truly is.
Playoffs began on April 18th which had four games that were scheduled to be played which were the Raptors and Cavs, Timberwolves and Nuggets, Hawks and Knicks, and Rockets and Lakers.
As the playoffs have progressed there have not really been any surprising outcomes that have come from the results. So far it seems that the team to beat is Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks. They have been on a tear as of late by putting up insane numbers. Another team that has been doing phenomenal is Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.
So far there has only been one spot secured in the NBA finals series; the Knicks were able to clinch this spot by sweeping the Cavaliers 4-0. Brunson and the Knicks are headed to their first NBA finals in 27 years. Now who they will play has yet to be determined but it is between the OKC Thunder, and the San Antonio Spurs.
Only time will tell who is destined to be the 2026 NBA finals champions.
