Every year the junior class plans a highly anticipated night for the underclassman at Bellefonte High. This year’s juniors are hoping to re-vamp underclassman prom with the theme “On the Bayou”, deeply inspired by the Disney movie The Princess and the Frog. Offering new attractions and pizazz, prom should have a new found magic to it!
In years past, prom has always had the same attractions, music, fun lights, friends, and a snack area. However, this year the juniors are hoping to up their game by adding a new attraction, food trucks. These food trucks are meant to be places students will “recognize”, making the dance feel personalized.
The theme “On the Bayou” was also chosen in hopes of personalizing the dance.
“We thought the underclassman would love the ‘spring, green’ vibe. It is finally Spring, so might as well incorporate it into prom,” junior Jamesyn Kelleher said, a member of the prom committee in the 2027 class cabinet.
When entering the dance, you should expect lots of vines and lights. The gym is meant to feel like you really are somewhere ethereal along the water. The big day isn’t until May 2nd, but tickets start selling at lunch on April 21 through April 30, for 20 dollars per person.
“We’re trying out a couple new things for prom this year that I’m excited for!” Mrs. Eddinger said.
In support of the junior class, and their upcoming senior events next year, they hope to see all of Bellefonte High there, enjoying the work they’ve put in!
