The Los Angeles Dodgers have done it. They won the World Series two years in a row. On Saturday November 1, the Dodgers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in game seven in 11 extra innings. The series was wild but overall both teams battled to the end.
The Blue Jays got ahead first, winning game one 11-4. Addison Barger hit the first pinch-hit grand slam in the World Series ever. Toronto had a nine-run inning in the sixth, and the series started in Toronto.
“I really loved Canada and it was a very cool experience because we got to explore new places and new areas we have never been,” junior Madison Kellogg said.
The Dodgers took game two with a 5-1 win. Yoshinobu Yamamoto sealed the Dodgers first World Series win, allowing one run.
The most stressful, exciting, and longest game with 18 extra innings was game three. The Dodgers took the win 6-5 after Freddie Freeman homered in the bottom of the 18th to walk it off. Shohei Ohtani had quite the night going 4-4 at the plate with two home runs, and a double. He was then intentionally walked four times in a row.
“My favorite part of the world series was being able to see the inside of the stadium and the roof closed,” Madison said.
After their 18 inning loss, the Blue Jays bounced back and took game four 6-2. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. slammed a homerun off Ohtani who allowed four runs, six hits, and six strikeouts over six-plus innings.
Yesavage stepped onto the mound winning 6-1. He stuck out 12, only giving up one run and three hits over seven innings.
Game six included the Dodgers forcing a game seven, winning 3-1 over Toronto. Kiké Hernández turned the game around with a game-ending double play.
In 11 extra innings, the Dodgers repeated the first championship game in 25 years winning 5-4 leaving the Blue Jays devastated. Will Smith’s homerun in the 11th sealed the game for the Dodgers. Yamamoto had his second win of the series also winning MVP.
“I wish the Blue Jays would have won because the Dodgers won last year and it would’ve given a different team the opportunity,” Madison said.
The 2025 season was filled with plot twists, heartbreaking injuries, amazing comebacks, and history was made. Who knows the Dodgers might three-peat!
