In 2014 the NCAA announced that there would be a tournament of the best of the best for college football. This tournament is now one of the most long awaited events every year in sports.  For the past 11 years, there has been a bracket of the most prestigious teams in college football every year. These teams fight for the renown College Football National Championship Trophy.
In the past, NFL stars have won the College Football National Championship Trophy such as Joe Burrow, DeVonta Smith, and Jalen Hurts. The College Football Playoffs were created to showcase the talent that College Football has to offer and it has delivered. The players that win the championship are very likely and almost guaranteed a spot on an NFL roster. This is a product of the determination and raw talent that they have.
The first recipient of the College Football Championship trophy was, Ohio State on January 12, 2015. Since then, Ohio State has won one championship, which was last year. Unlike Ohio State, Alabama has three championship titles–the most, to date, out of any College.
To focus on the present, this year, there has been a proposal for a 24 team bracket instead of the normal 12 team bracket to draw more attention to the teams in the lower rankings and give them a shot at the title. Now, the 24 team bracket is not in place yet. It will be decided on December 7 but it is being talked about heavily and fans want it in place, badly.
There is still a good chance that they will stay with the 12 team bracket although they have increased the amount of teams before. In the 24-25 season they increased the number of teams from the original 4 to 12.
This year there are some teams that have nearly secured a spot in the playoffs like Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A&M, and Alabama due to an impressive record. All of the teams  listed have an undefeated record with the exception of Alabama, who have lost one game out of the nine they played so far.
Unfortunately, there are some teams that looked extremely promising in the start of the season, like Clemson and Penn State, who have now become unranked. Although it happens to a few teams every year, Penn State in particular was surprising. The last time they were unranked was in October of 2022. Yet, even then after being knocked out of the rankings, the next week they were back in them. Sadly this cannot be said for the 2025 season because they have lost six of the nine games they have played in.
