Protesting has always been a way for people to come together and preach for what they believe in. With recent events today, protesting has become more popular now more than ever before. Many organizations have tried to coordinate protests, but none have been as big as the No Kings movement.
No Kings is a movement that started in June of 2025, organized after Trump was elected into office. The protests first began on his birthday, with there being more people there to protest than celebrate. The protesting got even bigger than that in October, when over 7 million people gathered at over 2,500 different events to protest the Trump administration and ICE. Streets were completely filled with protestors as the movement spread across the entire nation. This wasn’t the biggest protest arranged by the organization, however, with a protest in March gathering much more attention. This protest made history, with reports saying this event was the largest single-day protests with 8 million protesters across approximately 3,300 locations.
This protest, however, wasn’t just in big cities. In fact, it was more local than you think. One of the sites for this protest was State College, more specifically, through the downtown State College streets. According to the Centre County Times, more than 2,000 people gathered to join the nation-wide protest taking place Saturday, March 28. They started their walk on Old Main Lawn where everyone heard from speakers. They then trekked through the streets of downtown State College, holding their signs and chanting.
Another site for the movement was Lock haven, where around 300 people gathered. They all met at Triangle Park, with many carrying signs and chanting on the sidewalk. They lined up all the way to Bellefonte Avenue where you could see signs and even informational booths set up along the streets.
In a way, protesting is a form of bringing a community together to rally for what they believe in.
