On February 20, 2026, many fans, a part of the “Emo Cowgirl Club,” stayed up past midnight to listen to Megan Moroney’s new album, Cloud 9.
She first released singles, which include “Wish I Didn’t,” paired with a music video featuring Dylan Effron from Dancing with the Stars, “Beautiful Things,” “6 Months Later,” and “Cloud 9.” She later released a Tour for the new album, starting on March 10, 2026.
While her last album, No Caller ID, was about heartbreaks, this album is about self-assurance and personal growth. Megan’s songs are relatable to many young girls going through heartbreaks and happiness, but most of all, she writes “Sad Songs For Sad People” to try to cheer them up.
Megan went 15/15 with this one, but these songs in particular stuck out to many because people either related to them or had a connection to them.
“Cloud 9” is about being so in love that she’s above Cloud 9. It shows pure happiness in a new, healthy relationship. It’s all about being in the moment, showing how dreamy and romantic a new relationship can be.
“Medicine” is about a failed relationship, exploring the frustration of it falling apart. She highlights the idea that her ex will suffer the consequences. The song is bitter about the shortcomings of communication skills and the transformation of love into hate.
“Wedding Dress” is about the fear of not being completely over he ex, even when she is fully committed to a new healthy relationship. Instead of focusing on her future while walking down the isle, she’s being haunted by her ex. She wants the missing him to go away so she can focus on the man she is marrying.
“Waiting On the Rain” is about the downfall of a relationship and the lingering feeling deep down that she’s “waiting for the other show to drop” basically meaning she’s anticipating the heartbreak. The rain symbolizes that after the break up, the sun will shine again.
Finally, “I Only Miss You (feat. Ed Sheeran) is about continuous longing for a relationship that went south. She says “I only miss you when im breathing” intending that she misses him all the time. Fun fact, she called her ex after writing the lyrics to this song because she felt a strong connection.
Megan also released a bonus track, “Sorry… I Meant Tonight” on Feburary 27, 2026. It’s about the sudden rush of a new crush. It’s about accidental projection, catching herself from asking what he’s doing for the rest of his life by saying “Sorry… I meant tonight” instead.
Overall, Megan Moroney continues to please her fans and we can’t wait to hear her live while on tour.
