You may know biology teacher, Mr. Aaron Aumiller as the lacrosse coach for Bellefonte High, or maybe even as the track coach at Bald Eagle. Whether it’s Coach Aumiller or Mr. Aumiller you’ll find a way to know who he is eventually.
Aumiller first got his foot in the door at Bellefonte High as a main building substitute and he became a schoolwide favorite. For his personality, humor, and way of teaching, he was a name everyone wanted to hear when their teacher wasn´t gonna be there the next day.
Departing in 2022 Aumiller had moved on to bigger things in life. But then, earlier this year the abrupt news broke that Biology teacher and beloved staff member Christopher Friedhoff had departed from Bellefonte High. Just weeks before the first day there was a search for someone that could fill the role.
The job was not filled until two weeks into the 2025-26 school year. Filled by a familiar name that many people knew, Mr. Aaron Aumiller had come back home to Bellefonte High.
“Coming back to Bellefonte has been a homecoming for me. When I was substitute teaching here I always wanted to be official and belong here, when I left I had always hoped to be able to come back someday so to actually end up back here has been amazing. It’s not often you find somewhere you can consider “your place” but I think I’ve found that here.¨ Aumiller said.
Previously stated Aumiller is a coach for the Bellefonte High boys Lacrosse team, and that means that there is a good chance he has some of his players as students as well. Coaches are always wondering how their players act in school as opposed to after school.
“I’d say having some players in class is a huge help. On the coaching side of things you get to know the kids well, but being in the school you see a different side and can learn how to help and teach them on the field better than before. It also helps you keep the team together, the players get a “home base” almost that they can report to. Lastly, it helps grow the team. Lacrosse is a newer sport in this area so being in the school is a good way for students to get to know me and the program which helps build that comfort that might convince a kid to try it for the first time.” Aumiller said.
One thing you notice right away about Aumiller is his elite sneaker game. From Jordan fours, to Nike dunks. He usually has something new showing off. Most people know how serious some people take their sneaker collection. Around the world some people spend thousands of dollars on one pair of shoes and there are even records for most amount of money spent on a shoe.
“HUGE sneaker fan. Admittedly mostly a Nike and Jordan fan. I have been trying for a couple milestones– having a shoe in (almost) every color and having at least one of the original 12/14 jordan silhouettes. I have a ton of Jordan 1s and dunks, they go with everything and when I think “sneaker” I think of a Jordan 1 or a dunk. I also really like Jordan 3s for the comfort aspect and while Jordan 4s might be the coolest looking, they’re definitely one of the least comfortable. So any given Friday I’ll be wearing a shoe I haven’t worn yet that school year and I keep track of what I have or haven’t worn. My goal is to one day be able to wear a different shoe every day of the school year– there are a few social media sneaker gurus who’ve already done it and I think that is SO cool. I have a LONG way till I get to that point though.” Aumiller stated.
Aumiller is finally back home and back where he belongs and everyone is happy to see his familiar face roaming the halls. To sum it up it’s good to have him back.
