For many people, the thought of what they’re going to do after high school rarely crosses their mind as an underclassman. Then, once you get into your junior and senior years, you realize that you have to pick what road you want to go down. When it comes to senior Evan Guebara, the goal has not changed.
Evan has been an amazing student, friend, and role model at Bellefonte High since day one. He has pushed through every obstacle that life has thrown his way and come out of it as a better and stronger person.
Though he has clearly gotten himself to where he is today, there are still some supporters that he leaned on when he needed them most.
¨My parents have taught me to never stop moving forward, and in them I find hope for a better day. My grandparents always gave me what they could, despite how much they had, in that they taught me altruism. My brother has been my best friend my whole life, and I wouldn’t be half the man I am without him. My sisters have taught me to be gentle and loving, which wasn’t as common with my brother cuz we were boys, we’d hurt each other’s feelings, and nobody cared, but with my sisters, I learned to be more kind,¨ Evan said.
A college education is never guaranteed for people coming out of high school, but that does not stop Evan from being the best version of himself that he knows he can be.
¨I’m going to remember the work I put in and the work I didn’t put in. I know that the foundation of life comes from our strength to keep on fighting even when we feel so tired and exhausted, and we work for the foundation we have. I just know I will wish I pushed a little harder in some aspects, but cherish the victories from when I did give my all,¨ Evan said.
When you finally reach your senior year, people tend to ask themselves ¨where´d all the time go?” But Evan, he is ready to take the next step in life.
¨I do want to attend college. I want to go to law school so I can create reform in my community in any way I can.¨
Life gives you opportunities, and Evan is a clear example of someone who takes advantage of them.
