Hard working, talented, leader, a big game player, and a killer defender are all words that can describe junior Sydney Miller.
Sydney started playing soccer at the age of four years old. Since then, Sydney has devoted a significant amount of time to improving her performance every day, not just for herself, but also for her coaches, teammates, and family. As a team captain, Sydney has to be a leader on and off the field.
“Her leadership stands out as she leads by example with a strong work ethic in both practices and games,” says Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Stacy Miller.
A lot of athletes only play one position on the field; that is not Sydney. She does it all. “Having Sydney on the team is a true asset. She’s a dynamic player who excels in any position we place her in, which gives us incredible flexibility on the field,” says Coach Miller
Soccer has given Sydney some amazing opportunities, like playing at nationals, where she got to play up with her ’08 team. Sports like soccer don’t just teach you how to dribble, shoot, score, and defend, but also life skills that carry into everyday life.
“ I love playing soccer, I love the team aspect and how everyone has to communicate and support each other. Over the years, soccer has taught me how to persevere when things get difficult and how to work well with others,” says Sydney.
Sydney does not just excel on the field, but she also puts a lot of effort into school and her clubs. She is in Raider Revolution, Key Club, National Honor Society, and Class Cabinet. Sydney is a very well-rounded individual.
Sydney is a very hard-working person who puts her all into everything she does. Sydney plans on playing soccer in college. We all know that she will go so far, no matter where she goes in the future.
