Bailee Scott, a sophomore here at Bellefonte High, has become the first Bellefonte women’s wrestler to qualify for the PIAA State Tournament. Not only has she made herself proud, but the people around her.
“I appreciate the fact Bailee was courageous enough to try the sport of wrestling. She, as well as her teammates, will forever be the first team members in Bellefonte Wrestling history and they continue to make history for every tournament they enter. She wants to get better in the sport, not just be a member of the team,” wrestling coach Mr. Maney said.
For the past three years Bailee has been dedicated to this sport and her studies in school. One of Bailee’s favorite memories in her wrestling career was coming home from a tournament with two of her coaches and singing along to songs the whole way home.
In the future, Bailee plans to pursue a career in welding. One person she looks up to the most is her coach, Mr. Maney.
“This year, in particular, Bailee was more focused on doing well in school and in wrestling. All of those things are connected. I am a believer in how you do one thing, you do all things. She has been doing well in the classroom and more focused on her goals in the practice room,” Mr. Maney said.
Overall, Bailee is a hard working person in and out of school with dreams of her own on and off the mat.
